Every month, SALA’s Volunteer Lawyers Program recognizes a legal professional for legal volunteerism. Thanks to our volunteer private attorneys, the Volunteer Lawyers Program serves more than 10 percent of SALA’s clients. The award is a distinct honor and highlights the dedication and commitment of 12 individuals each year who give their valuable time and expertise to the community.
Congratulations to Michael Aboud, our May 2024 Outstanding Volunteer of the Month Award Recipient.
We are indeed lucky to have a pro bono lawyer whose work covers real estate and estate planning, title actions, and representing lending institutions in their foreclosure work. Case in point: Michael Aboud of Aboud & Aboud recently defended a SALA client who was in danger of losing her home, despite having paid a lease to own for nearly a decade. Michael litigated the case for two years (yes, two years!) and dealt with multiple surprising and complex issues along the way. Ultimately, Michael settled the case, preventing this mother and her children from becoming homeless and losing significant equity she had earned in her home. It should come as no surprise that Michael Aboud is our May Volunteer Lawyer of the Month. Congratulations to this acclaimed volunteer lawyer who makes a difference in so many lives!
