SALA provides free legal services to low-income people in 9 counties and 11 Indian Reservations of
Southeastern Arizona. The Sierra Vista office covers Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties. The
attorney will handle a wide variety of civil cases, which affect low-income people in these counties. Travel
to meet with clients and appear in court and at hearings across all three counties is required. Much of the
work is in domestic relations and landlord/tenant law. The attorney will participate in community outreach to
increase public awareness of legal aid services. Sierra Vista is a vibrant, multicultural city that features the
best year-round weather in Arizona.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants must be a member of the Arizona Bar or be willing to take the next exam. Applicants
licensed at least two years in another jurisdiction may practice by special rule. Criminal background check
required.
2. Applicants should have zero to five years’ experience, including internships and third-year practice.
3. Applicants must exhibit a high degree of sensitivity to the problems of the low-income community
and be able to work with low-income and community groups. They should have initiative, good
communication skills and the ability to work well in a multi-cultural setting. Spanish fluency is preferred
and rewarded.
4. Applicants should be knowledgeable in the area of general civil practice on behalf of the low-income community.
5. Applicants must be willing to make a two-year commitment.
COMPENSATION
Salary range depending on experience: $58,656 – $101,915; Up to 5%
additional compensation available to individuals fluent in a language other than English, that is used by
more than 10% of SALA’s eligible client population. SALA provides financial assistance to attorneys
responsible for law school loans. SALA has an excellent benefits package.
