Job Announcement: Legal Secretary/ Administrative Assistant, Sacaton

DESCRIPTION:

Four Rivers Indian Legal Services, a division of Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. (SALA), is hiring a Legal Secretary/Administrative Assistant to work in its Sacaton Office. SALA serves 9 counties in Arizona and 11 Indian Reservations. This person will be working in the Sacaton Office. The person will be required to perform such duties as greeting clients, handling incoming phone calls, ensuring prompt and courteous callbacks, coordinating intake applications, facilitating a minimum of two shifts per week on an agency-wide call flow system, and maintaining case files and office schedules for attorneys and advocates. Other duties may include facilitating access to building for repairs, monitoring inventory and ordering office supplies, and maintaining petty cash. May assist with gathering of reports, scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, composing and typing routine correspondence, and routing incoming mail. May also be responsible for scanning and returning original legal documents, correspondence, tabbing exhibits, maintaining court calendars and tickler system. Other clerical duties that may be required include preparing legal documents such as summonses, complaints, motions, and subpoenas.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Applicants must have one-year secretarial experience; experience in a legal setting a plus. Attention to detail is essential.
  2. Applicants must be able to type at least 60 W.P.M. and have good knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and letter writing.
  3. Applicants must be able to operate office equipment such as computers, phone systems, teleworking and teleconferencing equipment, copiers, word processing and legal software, etc.
  4. Applicants should be able to provide friendly, helpful client service while exhibiting a high degree of sensitivity to the legal issues of the low-income community. Confidentiality is paramount.
  5. Ability to speak O’odham language and familiarity with GRIC culture helpful. Bilingual English/Spanish also helpful.

 

COMPENSATION:  DOE:

Up to five percent additional compensation to individuals fluent in O’odham language. Excellent benefits package including health insurance, disability insurance, and pension plan. Excellent work/life balance with thirty-five hour workweeks and generous leave provisions
