Job Announcement: Paralegal – Bisbee Office

The Bisbee office covers Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties. SALA serves 9 counties in Arizona and 11 Indian Reservations. The Bisbee Office is located in the town of Warren. This office provides legal services to Cochise, Graham and Greenlee county residents. The Office is comprised of a Managing Attorney, Staff Attorney and two paralegals. The position requires substantial team and client focused initiatives and will involve extensive interactions with clients.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: supporting attorneys; assisting with trial preparation, interviewing clients; drafting of documents and correspondence; e-filing in both state and federal courts; gathering and organizing documents and other data; maintaining files; participation in weekly unit case-staffing meetings; and other duties as are needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Applicants must have at least two years as a paralegal or equivalent; initiative; excellent communication skills; ability to think critically and draft legal arguments, conduct legal research, and the ability to work well in a diverse and multi-cultural setting; and sensitivity to the problems of the low income community.

 

  1. Preferred skills will include a paralegal degree or certification;

 

  1. Ability to interpret and translate from English to Spanish is a plus.

 

COMPENSATION:

DOE;  Up to 5% additional compensation available to individuals fluent in a language other than English, that is used by more than 10% of SALA’s eligible client population.  SALA has an excellent benefits package.
