Job Announcement: Director of Development

DESCRIPTION:

Looking for a new exciting career opportunity? Southern Arizona Legal Aid (SALA) is seeking a full-time dynamic, organized communicator who is passionate about access to justice for all southern Arizonans. This professional would lead a robust effort to garner private funds to support the mission of SALA. SALA serves 9 counties in Arizona and 11 Indian reservations.

The Development Director is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy including annual giving; donor cultivation; including law firm, foundation and corporate support, major gifts as well as coordinating the fundraising activities of the Board of Directors. In addition, the Development Director will research, identify and access potential new funding sources. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, management team, Board of Directors, fundraising volunteers and others to lead SALA’s resource development efforts with the goal of supporting the mission of SALA, creating long-term, stable and enduring infrastructure of financial support.

                                                             

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Three years’ administrative experience preferably in a fund development office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Superb verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Familiarity with the legal community helpful.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Bloomerang Database management experience.

 

COMPENSATION: 

DOE; Up to five percent additional compensation to individuals fluent in Spanish. Excellent benefits package including health insurance, disability insurance, and pension plan. Excellent work/life balance with thirty-five hour workweeks and generous leave provisions
